A poem for my grandparents on their 50th anniversary:
Fifty years have come and gone.
Each of those years are verses to a song.
A song that has taken five decades to write.
A song that tells the story of a love that still shines bright.
Fifty years is quite a long time,
And the lyrics to this song did not always rhyme.
Fifty years of ups and downs has given this song the most beautiful sound.
The highs and lows blend to make a beautiful harmony.
For fifty years they have been side by side, just like ebony and ivory.
Five children make up the chorus,
Supporting this love and bringing it solace.
Fifty years of a life shared together.
Fifty years of a love song that will endure forever.
